Sizing The Unit

Size the generator.

An undersized unit can trip breakers when motors start, while an oversized diesel can run too lightly. Share the connected load, voltage, runtime, and placement details so LDR can size the generator before dispatch.

What we need from you

Information needed to size the generator.

  • Total connected load. List everything that runs at once in kW and the starting demand for motors. Starting demand can be several times the running load. The target operating load is 70–80% of rated output.
  • Voltage and phase. Confirm what the panel accepts: single-phase 120/240 V, or 3-phase 120/208 or 277/480 V. Rental units can be field-switched to match.
  • Run time and fuel plan. Provide the operating hours per day and the refueling plan. Fuel is typically the customer's responsibility, while refueling service and extended-run tanks can be added to the order.
  • Placement and access. Identify the unit location, distance to the load, and access needed for the delivery truck.

  • 25–69 kW. Small sites, office trailers, pumps, and telecom work.
  • 70–149 kW. Tools, hoists, site trailers, and midsize facilities during an outage.
  • 150–349 kW. Large facility backup and heavy site power.
  • 350–500 kW. Plant-scale loads. Units can run in parallel for larger loads.

What size generator do I need?
Add the kW for everything that runs at once, include the starting demand for motors, and confirm the panel voltage. Share those details, and LDR will calculate the total wattage and select the size before dispatch as part of the order.
Can a generator power an entire construction site?
Yes. A towable generator can power tools, trailers, lighting, HVAC, and temporary offices. Spider boxes and feeder cables distribute protected circuits to the work areas, and larger loads can use several generators in parallel.
Can a generator back up an occupied facility?
Yes. A qualified electrician must install the transfer switch that moves the building between utility and generator power. LDR sizes the unit to the panel and load, while your electrician makes the connection.
How fast can you deliver?
Delivery is often the same day or next day, depending on equipment availability and the market. 
What happens if the generator stops working?

Are fuel services included?

Yes. Light towers support night construction, roadwork, emergency response, and remote sites. A 4-lamp LED tower fueled at dusk can run through the shift without a mid-shift refuel.
Do light towers have LED or metal-halide heads?
LED heads run longer per tank than metal-halide and illuminate immediately. Metal-halide remains available in some markets. LDR confirms the lamp type on the available units before delivery.
How much does it cost to rent generators and light towers?
Price depends on the equipment type and count, rental duration, and market. 
Can you cover more than one site or market?
